The Origin of Homegrown Hopes
The name “Homegrown Hopes” holds a special significance for me. It’s a reminder of my intention to lead a more sustainable and natural life, even though I don’t have all the answers. It’s about striving to create more with our hands and homes, and always hoping to improve. This podcast, like my blog of the same name, is a space to share that journey.
Embracing Imperfection
Starting this podcast has been a journey in itself. I recorded the trailer and introductory part of this episode in February 2023, and now, in January 2024, I’m finally pushing through my fears and insecurities to share it with you. Like many, I struggle with impostor syndrome, feeling unqualified to share my thoughts. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you don’t need to know everything to put yourself out there.
The Vision for This Podcast
In this podcast, we’ll chat about everything from gardening and scratch cooking to homeschooling and motherhood, with a touch of sarcasm (thanks to my dad!). I’m not an expert, but I’ll share my experiences, both good and bad, and make the most of the little moments in between. I hope to build a community where we can learn and grow together.
About Me
I’m Caitlin, a Barefoot Blue Ridge homegrown mama living in Western North Carolina. I homeschool my two children, work from home, and run a blog and YouTube channel under the name “Homegrown Hopes.” My family also operates a reclaimed wood business. With so many irons in the fire, adding a podcast seemed like a natural next step.
What To Expect
This podcast will cover a range of topics, including:
- Gardening: Whether you have 100 acres or an apartment balcony, I want to offer inspiration and practical tips.
- Scratch Cooking: From baking to sourcing ingredients, we’ll discuss how to make cooking enjoyable and sustainable.
- Homeschooling and Motherhood: Sharing strategies for balancing work, homeschooling, and family life.
- Community Building: Encouraging each other, sharing triumphs and failures, and growing a supportive community.
I also plan to have guest speakers who can share their expertise and insights. My goal is to cultivate a community where we can build each other up and learn from one another.
