Making Your Own Glass Cleaner at Home Saves So Much Money
Even if saving money isn’t your main goal with making your own cleaning products at home, it sure is a nice bonus! Truly, this recipe can be made for less than a dollar, and is made using products that you probably already have on hand in your home.
How to Make Homemade Natural Glass Cleaner
Another great thing about this recipe is that it can be whipped up in less than a minute. I think it’s easy to get overwhelmed when you first start thinking about making your own cleaning products at home, but the reality is that it’s a pretty simple process.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup lemon juice or 15 drops of lemon essential oil
Supplies
I use a glass bottle for most of my homemade cleaning supplies, including this solution. The vinegar and lemon juice are pretty acidic, and I’ve found that glass holds up better over time.
Directions
Add all of the ingredients to a glass spray bottle and give it a good shake. It’s that simple!
How to Use Homemade Natural Glass Cleaner
The beautiful thing about this glass cleaner is that it can be used on more than just windows. Mirrors, glass stove tops, and even glass shower doors will all be sparkling when you use this spray. I also have a secret weapon that I use when cleaning windows….a squeegee! I use microfiber cloths on my mirrors and glass stove top, but when I’m tackling large windows, nothing works better than a squeegee for leaving a streak-free shine.
Natural Glass Cleaner is Powerfully Effective and Safe
There’s a stigma around natural cleaning products that they are somehow less effective than their chemical counterparts, but that’s simply not true. There’s a reason why vinegar has been used as a cleaning agent for thousands of years. There are even reports that state its use as a natural disinfectant can be traced back to ancient Babylon. Vinegar is a powerful acidic cleaner and disinfectant. It’s strong enough to fight bacteria, while also being gentle enough to be ingested. You’re not going to find other cleaning products that say that under your average kitchen sink. Vinegar and lemon juice are both great for cutting through grease and grime, and also dissolving mineral deposits (like the hard water stains on my shower door).
