As I mentioned in my last post
we took our little Sprout on his first
beach trip on Memorial Day weekend.
It was very hectic & more stressful than I imagined it would be
but we had a great time.
I’m not a beach bum,
my heart is in the hills.

All that sand did me in for a while.
So as I was shaking it out of my stroller
….yes a week later I’m still finding sand everywhere….
I thought I would make a little list of
tips to make a beach trip run more smoothly.
5. Plan ahead
A little forethought goes a long way.
4. Shade is your friend
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good sun-kissed tan as much as the next girl.
But a hot baby is a fussy baby…..
& aint nobody enjoying the beach with a fussy baby.
3. Don’t pack the kitchen sink
This goes hand-in-hand with #5
& it’s much easier said than done.
I’m guilty of way over-packing.
(It’s hard to tell in this picture, but we were carrying a diaper bag, beach bag, umbrella,
cooler, inflatable baby pool, toys, & baby of course)
So when you are loading up to enjoy the sun & sand,
think about what you really need & be realistic.
If you think you’re going to set up a badminton net
& enjoy a friendly family game all while caring for
a 6 month old baby that wants to gorge on handfuls of sand,
then you’re in for a surprise!!
2. Baby powder
I had seen this handy trick on Pinterest years ago
& tucked it away in the “baby file” in my brain.
I was skeptical that it would work
but was pleasantly surprised that it did.
At the end of the day,
when the baby (or you) are covered in sand,
just sprinkle a little baby powder on your skin
& that evil stuff will dust right off!!
1. Laugh it off
It’s so easy to get frustrated & overwhelmed
when you’re hot, tired, & have a crying baby to tend to.
There were a couple of times when I felt like crying myself.
Instead, you just have to laugh & enjoy the fleeting moments that you have.
Babies grow way too fast & I’m going to enjoy every second.

Great tips! We are going to the beach 4th of July week with Jenna and Jackson. Jenna is 3&1/2 but Jax will only be 6 weeks old!!! Excited but anxious about it at the same time.

Good luck Jenn!! Hope you have a great time, but we are ready for you to come back 🙂
